Judge L. T. Simes swore Derene Cochran in as City Clerk/Treasurer during the March 7, 2006 City Council Meeting. The Council appointed Cochran after the position was vacated in February 2006.

Cochran has 28 years of experience as a city employee and 20 as deputy city clerk. Derene earned a certificate in accounting from Crowley's Ridge Technical Institute.  She is also a Auxilliary Officer with the Forrest City Police Department.
